The newly consecrated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has opened its doors to the public today, January 23, marking a historic moment for devotees across the nation. This grand opening follows a magnificent ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony held on Monday, which was attended by prominent figures including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Visitors will be able to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya during two designated time slots each day: from 7 AM to 11:30 AM and then from 2 PM to 7 PM. The highlight of Monday’s festivities was the installation of the 51-inch tall Ram Lalla idol, skillfully crafted by sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru.
Despite the chilly winter weather, a large number of devotees gathered outside the temple complex on this auspicious day. Many had patiently queued up since 3 AM, eagerly waiting to enter the temple, catch a glimpse of Ram Lalla, and offer their prayers.
Due to the overwhelming rush of devotees, darshan (viewing of the deity) was temporarily halted at the temple. However, this interruption was brief, and normal proceedings resumed after a few minutes. Furthermore, vehicular movement near the Panch Kosi Parikrama path has been temporarily suspended to ensure the smooth flow of devotees.
Yesterday, Ayodhya was immersed in a spiritual atmosphere despite the cold weather, as the enthusiasm of devotees remained undeterred. The air was filled with the chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and Ram bhajans, while folk dancers and a religious troupe from Bhopal added to the lively ambiance with a ‘palki yatra’.
The Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) band further enhanced the joyous occasion by playing patriotic tunes along the streets of Ayodhya. As night fell, residents illuminated diyas outside their homes, reminiscent of the Diwali festival celebrating Lord Ram’s homecoming. The night sky sparkled with the glow of fireworks.
In the upcoming days, the temple is expected to attract a large number of pilgrims and tourists who are eager to witness the divine structure and offer their prayers.
After participating in the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, PM Modi stated that the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya signifies the beginning of a new era. He called upon the people to not only focus on the construction of the Ram temple, but also to lay the foundation of a strong, magnificent, and divine India for the next 1,000 years.
In a message directed towards his critics, he stated that there were individuals who previously claimed that the construction of the Ram Mandir would ignite conflict within the nation. He urged them to reconsider their perspectives. According to him, Ram represents energy rather than fire, a solution rather than a dispute, and belongs not only to us but to everyone. Furthermore, he emphasized that Ram is not only present in the current moment but is also eternal. Additionally, he highlighted that the temple symbolizes peace, patience, harmony, and unity within Indian society.
Expressing his gratitude, he acknowledged the Supreme Court for ensuring justice and facilitating the construction of the temple at the once disputed site through legal means.
With his speech resonating throughout the country, the Prime Minister aimed to evoke an emotional connection with the masses by stating that “our Ram” has finally arrived after centuries of waiting, patience, and sacrifices.
“Our Ram Lalla will no longer reside in a tent. Our Ram Lalla will now have a magnificent temple as his abode,” stated PM Modi during his address.
