Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister and also in charge of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development portfolio, emphasized the importance of conducting regular social audits to prevent any misuse of funds under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). During a review meeting at his office in Vijayawada, he instructed department officials to strictly adhere to the guidelines and ensure proper utilization of funds.
Mr. Kalyan highlighted the significance of this scheme for the livelihood of a large number of workers and urged officials to monitor its implementation at the grassroots level. He also requested updates on the progress of NREGS works, expenditure, and any cases related to fund misappropriation.
