Delhi is expected to maintain a heightened state of alertness on Sunday in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony. The Delhi Police have announced a comprehensive security plan, which includes the deployment of five paramilitary companies, NSG commandos, drones, and snipers to ensure the safety of the Rashtrapati Bhawan during the event.
Given that dignitaries from SAARC nations have been invited to attend the ceremony, the security arrangements are anticipated to be similar to those implemented during last year’s G20 summit. In order to facilitate the smooth movement of these distinguished guests, designated routes will be provided from their hotels to the venue and back.
Furthermore, the Delhi Police issued an official notice on Friday, emphasizing the prohibition on the use of certain flying objects within the city limits. This measure aims to maintain the security and integrity of the event.
Staff to be Assigned
Snipers and armed police personnel will be stationed along the routes of the dignitaries, as well as drones at key locations in the national capital.
The inauguration ceremony is expected to be attended by prominent leaders from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, and Seychelles. To ensure their safety, hotels like Leela, Taj, ITC Maurya, Claridges, and Oberoi have already been placed under tight security.
Advanced Artificial Intelligence technology and intrusion warning systems will be utilized for scanning and facial recognition purposes. Additionally, snipers will be positioned at strategic points and tall buildings for enhanced security measures.
Heavy security at Rashtrapati Bhawan
The event, set to take place within the Rashtrapati Bhawan, will be subject to a comprehensive three-tier security arrangement encompassing both the interior and exterior of the premises.
On the day of the event, commandoes from Delhi Police’s SWAT (Special Weapons And Tactics) and NSG will be stationed around the President’s house as well as at key strategic points.
According to an official speaking to PTI, approximately 2500 police personnel, consisting of five companies of paramilitary forces and Delhi Armed Police (DAP) jawans, are scheduled to be deployed in the vicinity of the venue.
Traffic Diversions
Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration, it is anticipated that certain roads leading to the central area of Delhi may be closed on Sunday, or there could be traffic diversions starting from the morning. Additionally, there will be increased security checks at the borders of the national capital starting from Saturday.
Dignitaries/Special Invitees and Schedule
Leaders hailing from the neighboring countries of India and the Indian Ocean region have graciously received invitations to partake in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Notable figures who have confirmed their attendance include Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, Vice President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, and Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
Subsequent to the official ceremony, these dignitaries will be in attendance at a formal banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan later that evening.
Additionally, the guest list for the event will encompass individuals such as laborers engaged in the Central Vista project, personnel from the railways department involved in the Vande Bharat and metro trains, members of the transgender community, sanitation workers from the public health department, beneficiaries of various Central government initiatives, and ambassadors of Viksit Bharat.
