Controversy Erupts: BJP Questions Congress Manifesto with Thailand Photos – Is It Rahul Gandhi’s Holiday Itinerary?

The BJP criticized the Congress manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections, pointing out that it contains images from New York and Thailand. Sudhanshu Trivedi, the national spokesperson for the BJP, highlighted that the Congress Nyay Patra features a picture of Buffalo River in New York State under the environment section. Trivedi questioned the inclusion of a picture from Rahul Gandhi’s favorite destination, Thailand, in the manifesto, and used a Hindi proverb ‘Akal bade ya bhains?’ (Is wisdom greater or the buffalo?) to mock the Congress party for their choice of images.

The BJP has accused the Congress of deceiving voters with their manifesto, labeling it as a “collection of falsehoods”. Trivedi pointed out the irony in Congress seeking the people’s support by promising miracles if elected. He mocked Congress for naming their manifesto “Nyay Patra”, implying that the party had been unjust to the nation during its decades of governance. Trivedi further claimed that Congress had failed to deliver on any of its previous promises from past manifestos for both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He questioned, “In which Congress-governed states has Rahul Gandhi’s pledge of providing ₹76,000 to citizens been put into action?”.

Amit Malviya, a leader of the BJP, also criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Congress manifesto by stating that “it seems like the Congress forgot that they are creating a manifesto for India and not planning a vacation itinerary for Rahul Gandhi!” He questioned the use of a picture of Thailand under the Environment section, suggesting that it wouldn’t be surprising if Rahul Gandhi heads to Thailand for another holiday soon after the elections.

The Congress unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections set to take place in seven phases starting from April 19. The party has pledged the right to apprenticeship, a legal assurance on the minimum support price (MSP) for crops, an increase in the 50 per cent cap on reservation for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), as well as civil rights for LGBTQIA+ couples.
