“Controversy Erupts as Congress Leader Promises Rs 2 Lakh for Those with 2 Wives”

Congress leader Kantilal Bhuria caused controversy on Thursday by announcing that men with two wives would receive financial aid of Rs 2 lakh. He also stated that if the party came into power, women would receive Rs 1 lakh annually under the party’s Mahalaxmi scheme.

Bhuria made these remarks during a rally in Sailana, where he was joined by former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh and the party’s state unit chief Jitu Patwari. He confidently stated that after the Congress government takes charge, every woman would receive Rs 1 lakh as promised in their manifesto. Additionally, those with two wives would receive Rs 2 lakh.

Patwari supported Bhuria’s statement during the rally, calling it a “terrific announcement.” However, the ruling BJP strongly criticized Bhuria’s remarks and demanded action from the Election Commission. BJP MP Maya Naroliya accused Congress leaders of insulting women and stated that women voters would respond fittingly in the Lok Sabha elections.

Bhuria, who previously served as a Union minister for tribal affairs in the Congress-led UPA government, also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for disrespecting tribals and failing to address an incident where a tribal was urinated upon in Sidhi.

In the Ratlam constituency, Bhuria is competing against Anita Chauhan, the wife of Madhya Pradesh Forest Minister Nagar Singh Chauhan.

The Lok Sabha elections in Ratlam are scheduled to take place during the fourth phase of the ongoing electoral process on May 13. The declaration of results is anticipated to occur on June 4.
