In January 2025, the British rock group Coldplay will play a show in India. Due to overwhelming demand, the first two-day tour in Mumbai was eventually expanded to a three-day visit. The event will be held on January 18, 19, and 21 in Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.
Since the tour’s official announcement a few days ago, a lot has transpired. While some ticket holders have been posting about how happy they are, others are considering their options for seeing their favorite band play outside of India.
The nearest dates and site for the Coldplay concert, other than India, happens to be Abu Dhabi, and, unsurprisingly, Indian fans went in enormous numbers to Ticketmaster—the official ticketing portal for tickets in the GCC.
Why Are Coldplay Tickets So Hard to Come by in Abu Dhabi?
In addition to being close to India, the tickets have prices that are comparable to those there. For instance, the regular ticket for the show is priced at approximately 195 AED, or nearly Rs 4,500. This is the lowest price level; the highest is AED 1,495, or around Rs 35,000.
Another major factor in the fans’ decision to relocate is how much simpler it is to obtain a visa for Abu Dhabi. If they decided to attend the concert in the Middle East, many individuals on the internet even posted an estimated budget of at least Rs 1.7 lakh for two people for a stay of five to seven days. Long-term vacation plus a concert = amazing value.
Demand soared to the point where Coldplay announced more concert dates in the region as a result of everyone’s focus being on Abu Dhabi. There are now four concert dates in Abu Dhabi as opposed to three in India. In Abu Dhabi on January 9, 11, 12, and 14, 2025, Coldplay will play.
Naturally, Abu Dhabi becomes the hotspot because it is the only location in the Middle East where Coldplay is doing their tour. To their dismay, fans discovered that standing in line on Ticketmaster for Coldplay tickets in Abu Dhabi caused similar problems. Among the few celebs who talked about how difficult it was to get tickets for the Abu Dhabi event was VJ Nikhil Chinappa.
The next Coldplay concert will take place in Hong Kong, followed by Seoul, South Korea, then Abu Dhabi and India. More dates in Seoul were announced due to the overwhelming demand. Keeping that in mind, supporters are awaiting further dates to be revealed in India as well.
In India, More Dates?
Although there is still a lot of interest in seeing Coldplay live, there are rumors that the NAMO Stadium in Ahmedabad will soon announce a concert. But thus far, nothing has changed on this front.
Fans can wait for the Infinity Tickets for the November 22 live India performance by keeping a watch out for them.
CONTROVERSY
BookMyShow, the official ticketing platform, has filed a lawsuit against scalpers and repeatedly reiterated that tickets purchased through third-party applications may not be legitimate amid all the commotion surrounding concert tickets, scalpers, and outrageous ticket prices. Additionally, they have refuted rumors of a cancellation in the wake of the outcry by confirming that Coldplay’s concert will go on as scheduled.
In the meantime, Moon Music, Coldplay’s tenth album, was released in October. They also stated that they will continue to perform but will not be releasing any new music after their twelfth album.
Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, Will Champion, and Phil, the band’s manager, are commonly regarded as the fifth member of the British band.
