Centre Establishes High-Level Panel to Ensure Transparency and Smooth Conduct of Exams Amid NEET, UGC-NET Controversy!

The Ministry of Education has formed a distinguished committee of experts to oversee the fair and transparent conduct of examinations during the NEET and UGC-NET controversy.

This committee, led by Dr. K Radhakrishnan, former chairperson of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and current chairman of the board of governors at IIT Kanpur, will provide recommendations for improving the examination process, enhancing data security protocols, and refining the operations of the National Testing Agency.

Other esteemed members of the committee include Dr. Randeep Guleria, former director of AIIMS, Prof. BJ Rao, vice chancellor of Central University of Hyderabad, Prof. Ramamurthy K from IIT Madras, Pankaj Bansal from People Strong and Karmayogi Bharat, and Prof. Aditya Mittal from IIT Delhi.

Govind Jaiswal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Education, will serve as the member secretary of this committee.

The committee’s primary objective, as stated by the education ministry, is to thoroughly evaluate the examination process and propose strategies to enhance its effectiveness. Additionally, the committee will review the Standard Operating Procedures of the National Testing Agency and recommend ways to strengthen them, along with establishing a monitoring system to ensure compliance at all levels.

According to the education ministry, the committee will propose strategies to enhance data security protocols, assess the current data security procedures and protocols of the NTA, and propose measures for their enhancement.

Additionally, the committee has been assigned the responsibility of providing recommendations on the organizational framework and operations of the NTA, as well as clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of individuals at each level.

“The committee is required to submit its report to the Ministry within a period of two months from the issuance date of this directive,” stated the education ministry.
