Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, is set to appear before the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi following the conclusion of his 3-day CBI custody. The central agency has requested that the AAP leader be placed in judicial custody. On Wednesday, the Delhi court had remanded Kejriwal to the custody of the central agency after he was interrogated by the CBI in Tihar Jail in connection with an alleged corruption case related to the now-defunct excise policy.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has requested that Arvind Kejriwal be placed in judicial custody in relation to the excise policy case. On the other hand, Kejriwal’s legal representatives are currently objecting to the idea of judicial custody.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Kejriwal, and the case differs from that of the Enforcement Directorate. Prior to the Supreme Court hearing regarding Arvind Kejriwal’s bail on money laundering charges related to the alleged excise policy scam, a Delhi court granted the CBI a 3-day custody of Kejriwal on June 25.
The CBI had formally arrested Kejriwal earlier in the day and requested a five-day custody of the AAP national convener in the corruption case. Special Judge Amitabh Rawat at the Rouse Avenue Court permitted the CBI to formally arrest Kejriwal.
Subsequently, Judge Sharma inquires about the basis for opposing the JC. Judge Sunena Sharma of the Rouse Avenue Court states that after the policy custody concludes, the Court must remand the accused to judicial custody in accordance with the CrPC.
