The Congress leader Rahul Gandhi faced criticism from the BJP party following the circulation of a viral video. In the video, Gandhi can be seen offering a dog’s biscuit to a supporter during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Jharkhand, despite the animal’s refusal to consume it.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has once again criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for a viral video in which Rahul apparently gave a dog’s biscuit to a supporter after the dog refused to eat it, causing controversy.
In a video shared by Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on its X (formerly Twitter) account, Rahul Gandhi can be seen petting a puppy during the yatra in Jharkhand. In the video, Rahul Gandhi asks for a packet of biscuits and is seen giving one to the puppy.
At that moment, several supporters approached Rahul Gandhi to talk to him and take selfies. However, the video shared by Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra does not show Rahul Gandhi giving the dog biscuit to a supporter.
In the viral video tweeted by Himanta Biswa Sarma, Rahul Gandhi is seen apparently giving a biscuit to a man that the puppy did not eat, leading to accusations from the BJP that the Congress leader mistreated his supporters.
Having once been associated with the Congress, Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked Rahul Gandhi, stating that neither he nor his family could make him “eat the biscuit”. “I am a proud Assamese and Indian. I refused to eat it and resigned from the Congress,” he declared.
Himanta Biswa Sarma has often mentioned a previous incident where he claimed that during a meeting with Rahul Gandhi, biscuits were given to Rahul’s pet dog, Pidi, from a plate, and then offered to the Congress leaders present.
The Assam Chief Minister has used this anecdote to question Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to party affairs and has cited it as one of the reasons for his departure from the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi is criticized by the BJP.
The BJP gained new ammunition from the viral video featuring a dog biscuit, as Amit Malviya, the head of the party’s IT cell, took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, the “crown prince,” and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
In a recent Hindi post on X, Amit Malviya wrote, “Just a few days ago, Congress President Kharge Ji compared the party’s booth agents to dogs, and now, Rahul Gandhi is feeding biscuits to a dog during his visit. When the dog refused to eat, he gave the same biscuits to his worker.”
Amit Malviya further stated, “If a party whose president and crown prince treats its party workers like dogs, then it is only natural for such a party to vanish.”
Shehzad Poonawalla, the BJP national spokesperson, also took a jab at Rahul Gandhi regarding his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and claimed that the alleged incident showcased the “elitist mindset” of the Gandhi family.
On X, Shehzad Poonawalla wrote, “No justice for Congress karyakartas? Rahul Gandhi feeds rejected dog biscuits to karyakartas! This reflects the elitist mindset of the first family.”
