Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary is being commemorated nationwide on Tuesday. The construction of Bapu Tower, a monument dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, in Patna is nearing completion. The inauguration of the tower is scheduled to take place in two months’ time.
Patna (Bihar): A monumental ‘Bapu Tower’ dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi is currently under construction in this city. This tower, standing at a towering height of 120 feet, is set to become the largest in the entire country.
The esteemed Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, has been diligently overseeing the realization of his visionary project in the Gardnibagh area of Patna. While the construction work on the tower has been completed, the finishing touches are being carried out with utmost urgency. Surrounding the Bapu Tower, there will be a beautifully landscaped park for visitors to enjoy.
The interior of Bapu Tower boasts an exquisite design, incorporating granite, tiles, and marble in the cafeteria and lounge area. With a total of six floors, Bapu Tower offers a breathtaking view of Patna from its sixth floor.
Inside Bapu Tower, visitors will have the opportunity to witness the memories associated with Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha. Spanning across one acre of land, this magnificent tower stands as a testament to the great leader’s legacy.
Adjacent to the tower, a sprawling five-acre park is being developed, providing a serene environment for visitors to relax and unwind. Additionally, a library has been established within Bapu Tower, housing a collection of books dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi for those seeking to delve deeper into his life and teachings.
To facilitate easy access, Bapu Tower is equipped with ramp stairs leading to the top floor, along with four elevators. The walls of the tower are adorned with captivating pictures depicting various aspects of Mahatma Gandhi’s life. Furthermore, special provisions have been made to accommodate individuals with disabilities.
The first floor of Bapu Tower features a cafeteria, while the second floor houses a research center. For those engaged in scholarly pursuits related to Mahatma Gandhi, a dedicated cabin is also available. Moreover, a spacious conference room capable of accommodating 200 individuals has been established for meetings and gatherings. Car parking facilities are conveniently provided within the premises of Bapu Tower.
Visitors will be required to purchase tickets to access Bapu Tower, which has been equipped with centralized air conditioning. This ambitious project has been undertaken at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 129 crore, with Rs 85 crore allocated for the civil work and Rs 45 crore dedicated to the exhibition section.
The inauguration of Bapu Tower by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is scheduled to take place in approximately two months. In the year 2018, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar initiated the construction of Bapu Tower by laying its foundation stone.
