A day before committing suicide, the suspect in the horrific murder of a lady whose mutilated body was discovered in a Bengaluru refrigerator told his mother about the crime. Odisha police sources informed India Today that the accused, Mukti Ranjan Rai, told his mother he loved Mahalakshmi, but she threatened to expose him in a kidnapping case.
On September 25, four days after Mahalakshmi’s body was discovered in an apartment in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval, Rai was discovered hanging from a tree in the Bhadrak district of Odisha. Mahalakshmi’s body was discovered inside a refrigerator, broken up into 59 pieces. Despite being married, the 29-year-old lived apart from her spouse.
According to police sources, Rai killed Mahalakshmi and then, about three years later, went back to his Odisha home and confessed to the crime in front of his mother. In front of his mother, Rai sobbed and declared that he had slain Mahalakshmi. He added that although he had spent a great deal of money on Mahalakshmi, she had not behaved well toward him.
In the alleged suicide note that Odisha police discovered immediately after it was written, Rai also admitted to the act.
Mahalaxmi and Rai become friends while working at a Bengaluru mall, according to the Bengaluru police. After that, they started dating. But Rai claims that Mahalakshmi forced him to wed her, and this caused them to fight all the time.
It is said that Mahalakshmi was urging Mukti Ranjan to wed her. Mahalakshmi was killed by the ill-tempered Ranjan, who also dismembered her body, according to the authorities.
The police claim that Mahalakshmi was killed between September 2 and 3. On September 21, her mother discovered her body.
