Three sadhus in Purulia, Bengal were subjected to a distressing incident on Friday, where they were stripped and physically assaulted. Miraculously, these sadhus managed to survive the ordeal. They were en route to Gangasagar via Ranchi Purulia but unfortunately lost their way in Gorangdih village of Kashipur, Purulia. Consequently, they faced challenges in seeking directions from the locals. However, during this trying time, Jyotirmoy Mahato, a BJP MP, provided them with significant assistance.

Ashish Singh, hailing from Dhanbad, found himself in an unexpected situation when Palghar in Maharashtra became a recurring topic of discussion. Disturbing news emerged from Bengal, where three sadhus from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, were subjected to a horrifying ordeal. These sadhus, who were en route to Gangasagar in Bengal, were stripped and mercilessly beaten by the locals in Purulia on Friday. Fortunately, the police intervened just in time to rescue the sadhus from the clutches of the enraged villagers.

The sages encountered challenges when seeking directions from individuals.

Today, Jyotirmoy Mahato, the BJP MP from Purulia, arrived in Dhanbad accompanied by three sadhus. Our plan is to escort the sadhus to the border of Uttar Pradesh, where they will continue their journey. Upon reaching Dhanbad Circuit House, the sadhus shared their harrowing experience. Sunil Goswami explained that they had initially set off towards Gangasagar via Ranchi Purulia. However, they lost their way in Gorangdih village of Kashipur, Purulia. In an attempt to find the correct path, they approached some locals for directions. It was during this time that City Police Volunteer Anwar Shaikh intervened, stopping their car and initiating an interrogation.

The Purulia MP accommodated us in his residence for the night, while expressing his concerns to the villagers about our suspicious appearance. He labeled us as criminals involved in child abduction. Consequently, a crowd began to assemble, with over a hundred individuals joining in and subjecting us to severe physical assault. Our garments were torn off, leaving us exposed and vulnerable. Regrettably, no one was willing to lend an ear to our pleas, and the language barrier further hindered communication. The assault inflicted upon us was merciless, and our vehicle was also vandalized. Eventually, the authorities were alerted, and we were escorted to the police station for our safety. The Purulia MP kindly provided us shelter in his residence throughout the night.

The state of Bengal is currently experiencing a breakdown in law and order, as reported by a Member of Parliament.

Purulia MP Jyotirmoy Mahato expressed his concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bengal, emphasizing the recurring incidents like the second Palghar incident. He attributed the entire responsibility to City Police Volunteer Anwar Shaikh, who played a pivotal role in gathering the people. Surprisingly, the police have failed to take any action against him. Unfortunately, innocent individuals have been unjustly arrested while those responsible for stripping and assaulting the sadhus were set free.

MP Jyotirmoy Mahato provided significant assistance to the sadhus.Additionally, he expressed that the sadhus were detained at the police station for over 24 hours. Upon receiving this information, an effort was made to relocate them, resulting in their discreet exit through the back door of the police station. Through his efforts, he managed to bring them to his residence. This morning, everyone was escorted to the temple where the sadhus were given a bath and provided with new clothing. The people of Purulia also expressed their apologies to the sadhus for the unfortunate incident. Jyotirmoy Mahato emphasized that the people of Purulia hold great respect for sadhus. It is disheartening that a few individuals are tarnishing the reputation of our district and state. The Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have played a significant role in addressing this matter.
