Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized on Tuesday that the government has successfully ensured the presence of only one flag and Constitution in the country. This statement is clearly in reference to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019.
Shah firmly stated that the notion of “One Flag, One Prime Minister, One Constitution” is not merely a political slogan, but a principle that the BJP strongly believes in. The implementation of this principle in relation to Jammu and Kashmir showcases the party’s commitment to it.
In response to a comment made by TMC’s Saugata Roy in the Lok Sabha, where he referred to “one mark, one pradhan, one constitution” as a “political slogan,” Shah expressed his bewilderment. He questioned how a country could possibly have two prime ministers, two constitutions, and two flags.
In response to a comment from the opposition bench, Shah asserted that the actions taken by Narendra Modi were correct, regardless of whether others agreed or disagreed. He emphasized that the entire country supported these actions, referring to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah further stated that the slogan “One Mark, One Pradhan, One Constitution” was not merely an election slogan, but a long-standing belief held since 1950. He emphasized the importance of having one Prime Minister, one flag, and one Constitution for the country.
Following Roy’s speech on the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his admiration for Syama Prasad Mukherjee and highlighted his sacrifices. Goyal believed that Roy should have also acknowledged Mukherjee’s contributions.
Roy, who had taught at a college named after Mukherjee, defended his slogan “One Mark, One Pradhan, One Constitution” as a political slogan. In response, Shah stood up to counter the TMC member’s remarks.
