“Amazon Unveils: Indians Prefer Using Alexa to Manage Lighting Controls”

As part of its sixth anniversary celebration in India, the company has unveiled exciting discounts on Alexa devices.
Amazon has shared insightful data on the usage of its Alexa-powered devices in India during its sixth anniversary celebration. According to the company, customers from almost every corner of India, including urban areas and rural villages, have purchased Alexa smart speakers and Fire TV Sticks. This increased awareness has led to a 200% surge in the use of smart home devices connected to Alexa over the past three years.

The growing number of connected devices has also resulted in a 100% increase in requests to Alexa for controlling various appliances such as lights, plugs, fans, TVs, security cameras, ACs, water heaters, and air purifiers.

Some of the most popular requests made to Alexa in English, Hindi, or Hinglish include commands like “Alexa, turn on the geyser”, “Alexa, turn off the AC in 15 minutes”, or “Alexa, dim the lights in the hall”.

While controlling lights remains a common request, the fastest-growing categories are smart fans and ACs, which have seen a 37% increase in usage over the past year, making them the top-growing smart home devices.

Amazon also notes a 12% increase in the availability of Alexa-compatible smart home appliances in the market over the past year, with brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Hindware, and Atomberg launching new devices.
Amazon has provided an overview of its latest major feature updates. The updated Alexa app simplifies the process of accessing and managing smart devices, requiring just one or two taps. With features like Favorites, home shortcuts, streamlined activity feeds, and enhanced search functionality, the app is now more intuitive for users.

Additionally, bulbs enabled with Alexa Connect Kit, such as the new Wipro RGBW lamp, offer hassle-free setup without requiring a separate hub or bridge. These bulbs seamlessly integrate with your Alexa account and automatically connect upon initial power-up.
In honor of Alexa’s 6th anniversary in India, Amazon is offering special anniversary deals. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to 50% on Echo devices, Fire TV, and Alexa smart home bundles. Notable offers include a 49% discount on an Echo Dot bundle paired with a Wipro smart bulb for Rs 3,899, a 59% discount on Echo Pop twins packs bundled with a Wipro bulb for Rs 4,898, and a 40% discount on the popular Fire TV Stick, now available for Rs 2,999.
