Amazon Music has followed in the footsteps of Spotify by introducing its own AI-powered playlist generator named ‘Maestro’. Although currently in beta, this feature is being tested with a select group of users. Similar to Spotify’s recent innovation, Amazon Music’s Maestro aims to simplify the process of creating playlists, promising a more enjoyable experience for users.
Maestro utilizes artificial intelligence to construct playlists based on user inputs, including prompts, emojis, activities, and even sounds. These AI-generated playlists can be saved for later listening and shared with others. However, Amazon acknowledges the inherent challenges of AI technology, cautioning that Maestro may not always produce perfect results initially. To address concerns such as inappropriate prompts or offensive language, the company has implemented safeguards within the system.
Presently, Maestro is accessible to a limited number of users in the United States, with availability for Free, Prime, and Unlimited Amazon Music subscribers on both Android and iOS platforms. While Unlimited subscribers can enjoy instant access to their playlists, Prime members and users on the ad-supported tier are granted 30-second previews before saving their playlists. Amazon plans to expand the availability of Maestro to more users in the future.
To utilize Maestro, users need to ensure they have the latest version of Amazon Music installed on their devices. Eligible users will find the Maestro functionality either on the home screen or by accessing it through the playlist creation interface. Once initiated, users can communicate their playlist ideas to Maestro through voice commands or text inputs, prompting the AI to begin curating music accordingly.
In recent months, Amazon has been progressively integrating AI-driven features across its product range. Earlier this year, the company introduced Rufus, a tool designed to enhance the online shopping experience on its e-commerce platform, emphasizing ease and intuitiveness for customers.
