Amarnath Yatra Suspended for a Day Following Article 370 Abrogation in J&K !

No new group of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu to Kashmir on Monday due to precautionary reasons related to the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, as per officials. This year, over 4.90 lakh pilgrims have visited the 3,880-metre-high cave shrine. The pilgrimage has been temporarily suspended for the day as a safety measure, with no new batches permitted to travel from Jammu to Kashmir today, as informed by an official to PTI.

The administration has implemented this measure in recognition of the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. According to officials, security measures have been significantly enhanced throughout the city. On August 5, 2019, the central government revoked Article 370 of the Constitution, which granted special status to the former state of Jammu and Kashmir, subsequently reorganizing it into two union territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. The Amarnath Yatra began on June 29 and is scheduled to conclude on August 19.
