Akhilesh Yadav addressed the Lok Sabha today, targeting the Narendra Modi government with a speech filled with sarcasm and poetry. He raised the issue of paper leaks in competitive exams and emphasized that he will continue to question the EVM voting method, even if his party wins every Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh. He also made a poetic jibe at the NDA government, stating that there is no foundation on which this government stands. He claimed that the Opposition bloc has scored a moral victory in this election and emphasized that the politics of unity has won.
The government has declared that India is now the world’s fifth-largest economy, but Mr. Yadav questions why the government does not disclose our standing in per capita income, hunger index, and happiness index. He emphasized that personal ambitions should not govern the country, but rather the will of the people. Mr. Yadav also highlighted the issue of corruption in Uttar Pradesh, stating that the state’s development projects have been marred by corruption. He criticized the BJP government’s flagship schemes, particularly the Smart City initiative, and took a dig at the “double-engine” slogan, stating that the people of Uttar Pradesh are suffering due to the power struggle between two individuals.
Mr Yadav highlighted the emergence of a competitive exams mafia over the past decade, with leaked papers causing widespread frustration among young exam takers. He accused the government of engineering these leaks to prevent job opportunities and criticized the administration’s slogan of Amrit kaal, suggesting that it has poisoned the hopes of the youth. Additionally, he celebrated the victory of the INDIA bloc in Uttar Pradesh’s Faizabad seat, attributing it to the political acumen of the Indian voter. Finally, he expressed support for a caste Census, emphasizing the importance of social justice.
In regards to the Agniveer matter, he mentioned, “I received my education at a military school. Several of my peers from that time are currently serving in the armed forces. I have had discussions with my superiors, who have now become officers. They might not openly admit it, but they have confided in me that initiatives such as Agniveer pose a threat to national security. If the INDIA bloc assumes power, the Agniveer program will be terminated,” he stated.
