The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) achieved a major milestone on Saturday as India’s first dedicated solar mission, Aditya-L1, successfully entered the halo orbit around Lagrange Point 1 (L1). Lagrangian Point 1 (L1) is a stable location in space where the gravitational forces of two massive bodies, such as the Earth and the Sun, counterbalance the centripetal force experienced by a smaller object, such as a satellite. This point lies along the line connecting the two larger bodies and enables satellites to maintain a relatively fixed position.
