“AAP Accuses Haryana BJP Government of Engaging in Negative Politics and Disrupting Delhi’s Water Supply”

The AAP once again criticized the BJP government in Haryana for engaging in negative politics and halting the water supply in the Yamuna river, causing a severe shortage in the national capital. Priyanka Kakkar, the AAP’s chief national spokesperson, stated in a press conference that despite a Supreme Court order, the 137 cusecs of water released by Himachal Pradesh had not yet reached Delhi. According to Kakkar, the BJP government in Haryana not only stopped the water from Himachal Pradesh but also reduced Delhi’s share of 1,050 cusecs by an additional 200 cusecs, going against the agreement between the two states.

Kakkar mentioned that the Delhi government will present these issues to the Supreme Court, which is scheduled to hear the matter on Monday. On June 6, the apex court directed the Himachal Pradesh government to release the surplus water for Delhi and asked Haryana to facilitate its flow to the national capital. Over the past two weeks, the Delhi government has repeatedly accused Haryana of withholding Delhi’s share of water. Kakkar also criticized Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena for not negotiating with Haryana to release the water. In response, the BJP’s Delhi unit chief Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP government of mismanagement, resulting in water theft and wastage.
