Patna: Installation of a 243-meter tall statue of the first President of India, Rajendra Prasad, is planned on the banks of the Ganga River in Patna, the capital city of Bihar. This statue will surpass the height of the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which stands on the banks of the Narmada River in Gujarat. The Patna Municipal Corporation will submit a proposal regarding this project to the government. Manish Sinha, the convenor of the NRI Cell of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Secretary of India Positive, has expressed his support for the decision to erect the statue of Dr. Rajendra Prasad. He mentioned that this campaign has been ongoing for several months.
The decision was made to forward this proposal to the influential standing committee of the Municipal Corporation, led by Patna Mayor Sita Sahu. Subsequently, the proposal concerning the construction of the statue has been approved and forwarded to the state government. We are now awaiting the approval of the state government. Once the state government grants its approval for the statue, the construction work will commence.
Manish Sinha expressed his gratitude towards all the individuals involved in this campaign. He acknowledged the numerous program organizations that worked tirelessly in Delhi, Patna, Siwan, and abroad. The campaign gained momentum as many people joined and supported this cause, ultimately transforming it into a social and political movement.
During his address, Manish Sinha mentioned that MP Sanjay Jaiswal was the first to state that if the BJP government came into power, they would install the statue. Additionally, BJP state president Samrat Chaudhary assured the construction of a 243-meter long statue during a program held at Bapu Auditorium in 2023. Manish Sinha emphasized the need for the statue of Rajendra Prasad in Patna to be modeled after the ‘Statue of Unity’, incorporating a digital library, museum, and other modern amenities.
