Pune police has filed an FIR against the parents of Puja Khedkar after a video of her mother, Manorama Khedkar, allegedly threatening farmers with a pistol went viral. The FIR was lodged following a complaint by a farmer and the case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Indian Arms Act. The video, said to be at least a year old, shows Manorama Khedkar arguing with a person about ownership of a plot of land in Pune’s Mulshi tehsil. Accompanied by bouncers, she is heard shouting at the man in Marathi, claiming ownership of the land.
The individual, believed to be a farmer, then mentioned that the case was being handled by the court.
The person stated, “Madam, the court has not yet reached a decision. I am still the rightful owner of this property.”
Law enforcement officials indicated that they would investigate whether Manorama possessed a license to possess a firearm.
Puja Khedkar, an IAS officer from the 2023 batch of the Maharashtra cadre, made headlines recently when she was transferred from Pune to Washim due to her inappropriate demands and lack of discipline.
She was also found to have illegally installed a beacon and the Maharashtra state government emblem on her luxury Audi vehicle.
There are also accusations that she falsely claimed Other Backward Class (OBC) benefits and disability concessions to secure her position in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
The Central government has established a single-member committee to investigate her behavior and the selection process.
