“Bridging Equality: Financial Aid Initiative for Transgender Students’ Hostel Accommodations” !!

The Ministry of Social Justice in Kerala has started a program to help transgender students get the help they need to stay in school. Over half of them drop out before 10th grade, and 24% even before 9th grade. This is because of harassment and other negative experiences they have at school. To help these students, the Ministry has set up a scholarship scheme, which provides them with an amount of money every month as rent to help them find hostel or other accommodation. Despite the improvement in people’s mindsets, there’s still a stigma around giving transgender people a house, so this program is here to help.

To help the transgender community, the department of social justice has come up with a scheme that provides them with ₹4000/- a month as rent to help them find hostel or other accommodation.
