Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Italy to participate in the Outreach session of the G7 Summit and engage in bilateral meetings with various world leaders. The summit session on “Artificial Intelligence, Energy, Africa-Mediterranean” will be hosted by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and attended by Pope Francis. PM Modi expressed his anticipation for productive discussions with global leaders to address international challenges and promote cooperation for a better future upon his arrival in Italy.

Before leaving for Italy, PM Modi expressed his satisfaction in making Italy his first visit during his third consecutive term for the G7 Summit.

The summit talks in Puglia commenced on Thursday, with the participation of the G7 leaders including US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Charles Michel. In addition to India, Italy extended invitations to leaders from 11 developing countries across Africa, South America, and the Indo-Pacific region to partake in the summit.

Mr. Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, mentioned that Friday will be a busy day for Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Italy. “We have a number of bilateral meetings scheduled with various world leaders. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will deliver a speech during the Outreach session of the G7 Summit,” Mr. Jaiswal stated in a video message recorded at the Brindisi Airport.

PM Modi expressed his delight in choosing Italy as the destination for his first visit in the third term, where he will attend the G7 Summit.
