An Ahmedabad businessman has made a significant contribution by donating his entire life earnings, amounting to over Rs 200 crore, as he and his wife prepare to embrace monkhood in the coming week. Bhavesh Bhandari and his wife Jinal Bhandari have been inspired by their children to embark on the path of renunciation and salvation. However, arriving at this decision was not an easy task for them. Bhavesh Bhandari faced challenges in convincing his parents to grant him permission to take the pledge of monkhood. Despite their initial reluctance, he remained resolute in his decision. As a result, his father and elder brother will now take charge of the family business. Bhavesh Bhandari has chosen the path of monkhood as he believes it is the right way to live, even though he has led a luxurious life without facing any significant hardships. He expressed his contentment with this decision during an interview with The Indian Express on Monday.
On April 22, the Jain couple, along with 33 others from their community, will take the pledge of monkhood at a grand diksha ceremony held at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad. Out of the 35 individuals renouncing worldly pleasures to seek liberation, 10 are below the age of 18.
Bhavesh Bhandari is a real estate businessman. In 2022, his 19-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son had also embraced monkhood during a similar event in Surat, under the guidance of Acharya Dev Vijay Yog Tilak Suriji Maharaj. The Bhandari family has been following the teachings of this spiritual leader for nearly a decade. Additionally, the businessman has previously made donations for community and diksha events organized in various parts of Gujarat.
