Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has once again secured the title of the world’s wealthiest individual, surpassing Elon Musk. As per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos currently holds a net worth of USD 200 billion, while Musk’s net worth has decreased to USD 198 billion.
The latest Index released on Tuesday indicates that over the past year, the CEO of Tesla experienced a loss of approximately USD 31 billion, whereas the net worth of the Amazon founder increased by USD 23 billion. On Monday, Tesla’s shares plummeted by more than 7 percent.
In January 2021, Musk surpassed Bezos to become the richest person globally, with a net worth of USD 195 billion.
Fast forward to May 2023, Musk managed to reclaim the title of the world’s wealthiest individual by surpassing tycoon Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH, the parent company of luxury brand Louis Vuitton.
Arnault initially surpassed Musk as the world’s richest person in December 2022 when Tesla faced a significant decline in value.
The most recent Bloomberg Billionaires Index now ranks Arnault as the third richest individual with a net worth of USD 197 billion, followed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg (USD 179 billion) and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates (USD 150 billion).
Furthermore, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, and Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, hold the 11th and 12th positions, respectively.
Ambani’s net worth is reported at USD 115 billion, while Adani’s stands at USD 104 billion.
