The Bihar floor test took place today in the Assembly, resulting in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar winning with a vote of 130-0. This victory comes after Nitish Kumar switched his allegiance from the Mahagathbandhan to the NDA bloc. During the session, three RJD MLAs joined the NDA bloc. Nitish Kumar, while addressing the Assembly, accused the RJD of trying to take credit for his initiatives and criticized the previous Lalu Prasad-Rabri Devi governments for their lack of contribution to Bihar’s development.
Prior to the vote, a no-confidence motion against Speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary was passed by the Assembly. The Congress flew its MLAs to Hyderabad to prevent any potential poaching, while RJD’s MLAs stayed together at Tejashwi Yadav’s house. The BJP leader Nityanand Rai claimed that all 78 MLAs of the saffron party were staying at a hotel in Patna, while Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) had 40 MLAs staying at another hotel in the state capital.
