Director Trivikram Srinivas is renowned for his mastery of language, which is evident in his clever and amusing dialogues that captivate the audience. His words are filled with jokes, pranks, and rhymes, making them highly enjoyable for the viewers. In the movie ‘Guntur Karam’, Trivikram Srinivas aimed to portray Mahesh Babu exactly as his fans desired. With this intention in mind, he carefully crafted the dialogues, keeping Mahesh in focus. The film showcases Mahesh in a powerful and influential role, with the backdrop of a mother’s sentiment. The entire movie revolves around Mahesh Babu, and the first half is filled with entertaining moments, dance sequences, and action scenes featuring Mahesh Babu.
In the second half, Trivikram delves into the intricacies of the story, revealing every detail. He explores the reasons behind Jayaram, Mahesh Babu’s father and son, being in Guntur, and the peculiar situation where Mahesh Babu’s mother, Ramyakrishna, never meets him despite her visits. Trivikram skillfully portrays the complex emotional bond between the mother and son, even though they may not necessarily like each other. The plot takes an unexpected turn when Ramya Krishna becomes the target of attacks, leading everyone to suspect someone else. However, the revelation of the true culprit shocks everyone.
Furthermore, it is important to note that the essence of the ‘Guntur Karam’ story is derived from Yaddanapudi Sulochanarani’s novel ‘Kirti Keeritalu’. However, Trivikram, recognizing that the novel was written several decades ago, decided to modernize the story for the film adaptation. This was done to ensure that the audience would find the story appealing, as it may not have resonated with them in its original form. The sentiment of Amma, which holds significance in the novel, is also a crucial element in the film. In ‘Guntur Karam’, Mahesh will be showcasing a new persona, encompassing fresh dance moves, dialogue delivery, and a Guntur accent. Additionally, his playful interactions with Srileela add a refreshing touch to the movie. All these aspects have been carefully crafted with the fans in mind. The songs in the film are captivating, evoking a sense of excitement and prompting the audience to cheer and applaud whenever Mahesh Babu showcases his dance skills. The cinematography is commendable, and Thaman’s music adds to the overall appeal of the movie. Moreover, Krishna Gari fans will also find this film enjoyable, as it includes numerous references to Krishna Gari.
Mahesh Babu showcased his exceptional dancing skills for the first time in this film, carrying the entire movie on his shoulders. He excelled in comedy, emotions, dance sequences, and fight scenes, truly embodying the character. Srileela’s dance performances were breathtaking, and her acting was commendable. It is refreshing to see a Telugu girl as the female lead. Meenakshi Chaudhary made a cameo appearance, adding to the film’s charm. Prakash Raj, after a long time, delivered an outstanding performance in a significant role. Ramya Krishna portrayed the role of Mahesh Babu’s mother with great finesse. Her impactful dialogue delivery in the climax showcased her vast experience in acting. Murali Sharma portrayed the role of a lawyer, which suits him perfectly. Vennela Kishore’s presence in the movie was long-awaited, and his comedic timing brought laughter to the audience. Rao Ramesh, although appearing sporadically, truly shined in the climax. His scenes with Prakash Raj were the highlight of the climax, captivating the audience with his dialogue delivery. Brahmaji portrayed the role of a police inspector convincingly. Ishwari Rao had a significant role in this film and delivered a decent performance. Ajay, Ajay Ghosh, Rahul Ravindran, and the rest of the cast performed exceptionally well in their respective roles.
