In response to the controversy surrounding a Maldives minister’s derogatory comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his visit to Lakshwadeep, there has been a surge of calls on Indian social media to boycott Maldives.

Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer, has also addressed this issue and utilized his official X account to post a video of himself playing cricket and a picture of the Indian coastal town, Sindhudurg.

In the article, the renowned cricketer expresses, “It has been more than 250 days since we celebrated my 50th birthday in Sindhudurg!””The coastal town provided us with everything we desired and more.

The combination of stunning locations and exceptional hospitality has left us with a wealth of cherished memories.””India is truly blessed with breathtaking coastlines and unspoiled islands. With our belief in the principle of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (Guest is God), we have countless opportunities to explore and create unforgettable memories,” the statement further emphasized.

Former Indian player, Venkatesh Prasad, also sheds light on this issue by condemning the remarks made by the Maldives minister towards India. He also highlights that the Maldives, despite being a predominantly impoverished nation, heavily relies on its tourism sector, with over 15% of Indian tourists visiting the island.”It is disheartening to witness a deputy minister using such derogatory language towards our country…

Prasad expressed on X that India possesses numerous untapped coastal towns, presenting a remarkable prospect to transform them into sought-after tourist destinations.
