Central Railway has disclosed the expenses associated with these booths, but Northern, Southern, and Western Railways have refrained from divulging the financial figures pertaining to such expenditures.
According to information obtained through a Right to Information (RTI) application, the Central Railway has disclosed that the government is allocating up to ₹6.25 lakh for the installation of each permanent 3D selfie booth featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image at various railway stations. This revelation also outlined that the expenditure for each temporary selfie booth stands at ₹1.25 lakh.
Responding to an RTI inquiry filed by Ajay Bose, a retired railway official, Central Railway’s Deputy General Manager, Abhay Mishra, confirmed the installation of Mr. Modi’s 3D selfie booths across 50 railway stations. These stations are distributed across five divisions, namely Mumbai, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Pune, and Solapur.
