To what extent will this electric scooter differ from its previous version?
The upcoming Chetak electric scooter is expected to undergo significant changes. Reports suggest that it will feature a larger 3.2kWh battery pack, providing an ARAI-certified range of 126 km. Additionally, it will come equipped with a new TFT color display, ranging from 5 to 7 inches in size. This display will offer smart TFT smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation capabilities. These updates indicate a substantial advancement in the Chetak electric scooter compared to its previous iteration.
According to reports, the new Bajaj Chetak Urban variant is set to replace the current premium trim. This electric scooter is equipped with a 2.9kWh battery pack, providing a range of 113 km on a single charge. Not only that, but it will also have a slightly higher top speed compared to the current model. The dimensions of the scooter will remain the same, with a length of 1894 mm, width of 725 mm, height of 1132 mm, and a wheelbase of 1330 mm. However, the new premium variant is expected to be lighter by approximately 3 kg. On another note, Bajaj is also working on something interesting. They are developing a new 100 cc motorcycle that runs on CNG fuel. In fact, they have even requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to reduce the GST on CNG vehicles to 18 percent. Bajaj has been experiencing significant growth in the market share of the 125cc to 200cc segment, currently holding over 30 percent. This segment will continue to be a major focus for the brand.
