Patna: About 76 schools in the Diara area have been shuttered till August 31 due to the Ganga River’s water level being above the danger mark and the river’s swift current. This order was given by Patna DM. Given the threat to the lives and health of the students and staff attending the local schools, the Patna District Magistrate issued this directive.
Let us inform you that a few days ago, Education Secretary Baidyanath Yadav sent a letter to each district’s DM stating that you will have the authority to make the decision on your own in accordance with the crisis management regulations. At your own level, you will give the order to close the school.
These schools of Patna were closed
Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, the district magistrate for Patna, has sent a letter directing the immediate closure of all schools in the district’s Diara neighborhood till August 31. The following schools have been closed immediately: 01 of Fatuha, 02 of Maner, 01 of Mokama, 04 of the Patna district’s Athmalgola block, 01 of Barh block, 23 of Bakhtiyarpur, 42 of Danapur, and 02 of the Patna Sadar block. There are 76 schools in all.
Last Friday, a teacher in Patna fell into the Ganges before reporting for duty. His current whereabouts remain a mystery. Following this, the educators on the job in the Diara districts demanded their own protection. Following that, Education Secretary Baidyanath Yadav sent a letter to each district manager (DM) granting them the power to accept instructions to close schools in accordance with local crisis management protocols.
Additionally, the government was requested to set up life jackets and boat facilities for teachers who cross the Ganga to get to school.
