This Independence Day is set to be a significant event at the box office, featuring the release of three major films: ‘Stree 2’, ‘Khel Khel Mein’, and ‘Vedaa’. Each of these films represents a distinct genre, making it difficult to predict which will emerge as the standout hit.
However, the advance ticket sales for ‘Stree 2’ are particularly noteworthy at this stage. With two days remaining until its release, the volume of tickets sold thus far indicates a strong demand. Remarkably, the film has already begun generating revenue, achieving impressive sales within just 38 hours of the advance booking opening.
The film has reportedly sold approximately 85,000 tickets across the three leading national chains—PVRINOX and Cinepolis—while achieving a total of over 122,000 tickets sold nationwide, as per Sacnilk.com. This figure significantly surpasses that of many recent films within the first 38 hours. According to a report by Pinkvilla, ‘Tiger 3’ managed to sell 72,000 tickets in the same timeframe, while ‘Brahmastra’ recorded 65,000 ticket sales. Both films ultimately exceeded 300,000 tickets sold by midnight on their release date.
With the advance bookings for ‘Stree 2’ continuing to rise, it is anticipated that the film may approach the ticket sales of ‘Animal’, which reached 456,000 by midnight of its release. There is hope that ‘Stree 2’ will achieve a double-digit figure on its opening day; however, the actual performance will be revealed over time. The situation may evolve further based on the audience’s reception of all three film releases. A similar scenario was observed last year during Independence Day when both ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2’ were released, and both performed well within their respective genres.
