Three soldiers sustained injuries during a clash that broke out between militants and security forces in the border district of Kupwara on Saturday morning. The wounded soldiers have been transported to Srinagar, while the operation against the militants is currently ongoing. The alleged infiltration and exchange of fire occurred a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing in Kargil, cautioned Pakistan that their malicious intentions will not prosper and a strong response will be given to the adversary. According to official reports, early on Saturday, security personnel noticed movement of suspected militants close to Kumkari post on the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of Kupwara. Upon confrontation by the security forces, the militants initiated gunfire, resulting in a gun battle.
