The Indian Navy announced on Thursday that a 16-year-old girl from Mumbai has successfully scaled Mount Everest, making her the youngest Indian mountaineer to achieve this feat from the Nepal side. Kaamya Karthikeyan, a Class 12 student from Navy Children School in Mumbai, embarked on her expedition with her father on April 3 and reached the peak on May 20. The Western Naval Command commended Kaamya for her accomplishment, stating that she is now the second-youngest girl in the world to summit Mount Everest from the Nepal side and the youngest Indian mountaineer to do so.
In addition to this achievement, Kaamya has also climbed the highest peaks in six continents. Her next challenge is to scale Mount Vinson Massif in Antarctica in December, aiming to become the youngest girl to complete the ‘7 Summits challenge’. Earlier this year, she became the youngest girl in the world to climb Mount Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America and outside of Asia. The Indian Navy praised Kaamya for her courage and determination in conquering these challenging mountains and wished her the best in her pursuit of summiting the highest peaks of all seven continents. #7SummitsChallenge.
